Income and Rent Limits

Households must meet income requirements in order to qualify for the County’s housing programs. Income limits vary by program and by household size. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) determined that the 2012 Washington Metropolitan region median income for a family of four is $107,500; income limits for affordable rental housing based on this amount remain in effect throughout 2013 per regulations of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program and the Arlington County Housing Division.

RENTAL PROGRAMS

The following tables show 2013 incomes and rents by percent of median income which are used for the County’s rental committed affordable units.

Other rental housing programs, such as the Section 8 Program and the Housing Grants Program each have their own income limits.

NOTE: Persons interested in applying for affordable units should check with the property management about the maximum income allowed. Some properties are subject to federal requirements that keep the maximum income levels lower than the County levels listed below.
