Results from the 2010 Census Redistricting Data Summary File were made available by the US Census Bureau for the state of Virginia and its Counties in early February 2011. The purpose of this early data release was legislative redistricting and is limited to counts of total population, race and ethnicity, persons age 18 or over, total housing units, and housing unit occupancy.
2010 Census data by Metro Station Area and Columbia Pike are available at 2010 Census Major Planning Areas.
2010 Census data by Civic Association is available at 2010 Census Civic Associations.
Since a population decline from 1970 to 1980, Arlington County's population continued to increase each subsequent decade (see Figure 1). The rate at which the population increased, though, appears to have slowed down. The 2000 to 2010 population growth rate of 9.6% was less pronounced than the 1980 to 1990 growth rate of 12.0% or the 1990 to 2000 growth rate of 10.8% (see Figure 2).
