Creating a carbon neutral Arlington by 2050 through renewable energy, reducing emissions, electric vehicles and green renovations with a focus on residents, businesses and County operations.
As part of Arlington’s ongoing sustainability efforts, we’re focusing attention on urban agriculture. Nothing defines fresh and local like growing produce in your own backyard or in a community garden.
Prevent pollution -- keep Arlington’s streams and environment clean. How? Only rain down the storm drain! If it's on the street, it will end up in the stream.
A watershed is an area of land that drains to a common body of water such as a stream, river or lake. Excluding water taken in by plants, all the rain that falls on Arlington eventually drains into the Potomac River.
From curbside collections to street sweeping to E-CARE collection events, the Solid Waste Bureau keeps Arlington clean and sustainable.
Plant them, support them, and care for them. A certified Tree City USA since 2005, trees are an important component of Arlington’s sustainability.
