Crime Report: October 31, 2018

REPORTS


PEEPING, 2018-10300007, 400 block of N. Edgewood Street. At approximately 12:31 a.m. on October 30, police were dispatched to the report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival, it was determined that a witness observed a suspect allegedly peering through windows of a neighboring residence. Arriving officers established a perimeter, located a suspect matching the description provided by the witness and took him into custody without incident. Stephen Polestak, 48, of Arlington, VA was arrested and charged with Peeping. He was held on a secure bond.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 2018-10300105, 1900 block of N. George Mason Drive. At approximately 10:41 a.m. on October 30, police were dispatched to the report of a possible breaking and entering in progress. Upon arrival, it was determined that the victim was inside her residence when she heard knocking at the front door. The victim narrowly opened the door and the suspect allegedly began to push it open. The victim was able to use her strength to close the door and then contacted police. Arriving officers located the suspect in the victim's yard and took him into custody. The suspect was transported to Virginia Hospital Center for medical evaluation. Warrants for Unlawful Entry, Drunk in Public, Public Urination and Possession of Alcohol by Interdicted Person were obtained for Shamsuddin Abbamin, 25, of Arlington, VA.

GRAND LARCENY (Significant), 2018-10300199, 2700 block of Jefferson Davis Highway. At approximately 5:47 p.m. on October 30, police responded to the report of a hit and run. Upon arrival, it was determined that the suspect allegedly rummaged through vehicles in a parking garage, stole a vehicle, crashed through a brick wall and struck an occupied vehicle before fleeing the scene. During the investigation, officers developed suspect information and obtained warrants for Grand Larceny Auto, Larceny from Auto, Felony Hit and Run, Driving DUI Revoked, Felony Destruction of Property and Misdemeanor Destruction of Property. The investigation is ongoing.
