During the month of September, the Arlington Public Library, the Arlington Employment Center and the Alexandria/Arlington Regional Workforce Council are hosting an employment and financial literacy series focused on experienced workers, culminating in a job fair for workers aged 50+ at Central Library on Mon., Sept. 23.

For many in our community, the next decade will bring transitions in both work and life. Whether you are ready for a successful post-career life, looking to enter the workforce or preparing for retirement, the Library and its partners will provide practical steps and the latest resources to help guide you through the next phase in your career.

According to Library Director Diane Kresh: "Whether you are at the start of your career search, working on a side-hustle or preparing for retirement, the Library is your go-to place for discovery, inspiration and opportunity."

During the month-long series of events, residents can:

  • Hear from aging solutions advocate, Elizabeth White, as she discusses her book, "Fifty-five, Underemployed and Faking Normal"

  • Join over 30 Arlington and Washington Metro area-based businesses at a job fair for workers aged 50+

  • Gain the tools needed to thrive in the quickly changing workforce and landscape

  • Hone interview and networking skills to land the next job
