REPORTS

ASSAULT ON LAW ENFORCEMENT, 2019-12240144, Shirlington Road at 25^th Street S. At approximately 8:28 p.m. on December 24, police were dispatched to the report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival, it was determined that a witness observed the suspect allegedly looking into residences and vehicles. Officers located the suspect in the area and made contact with him, however, he attempted to flee on foot. The suspect disobeyed lawful commands and continued to run until an officer caught up to him. While placing the suspect in handcuffs, he actively resisted and bit an officer. With the assistance of additional officers arriving on scene, the suspect was taken into custody. Kevin Colonius Gwalthey, 37, of Arlington, Va., was arrested and charged with Assault & Battery on Police and Obstruction of Justice.

ASSAULT ON LAW ENFORCEMENT, 2019-1226000, 1600 block of N. Taylor Street. At approximately 12:40 a.m. on December 26, police were dispatched to the report of a disorderly subject inside a residence. Upon arrival, an officer made contact with the suspect and attempted to assist him, however, the suspect struck the officer with an open palm. While attempting to place the suspect in handcuffs, the suspect actively resisted and a brief struggle ensued. With the assistance of additional officers arriving on scene, the suspect was taken into custody. Kevin Robinson, 43, of Kensington, Md., was arrested and charged with Assault & Battery on Police and Obstruction of Justice.
