About the Arlington County Board

The five-member Arlington County Board is the County's governing body, vested with its legislative powers. Board members are elected at large, and serve staggered four-year terms. Each January, the Board selects a chair and vice-chair to serve for one year. The chair and vice-chair have the same powers and duties as other Board members -- a vote but no veto power.  Christian Dorsey served as the Board's 2019 Chair, with Libby Garvey serving as vice-chair.County seal
