REPORTS
MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2020-01130168, 4000 block of 5
th Road N. At approximately 3:11 p.m. on January 13, police were dispatched to the report of a crash with injuries. Upon arrival, it was determined that the suspect attempted to exit a tow lot, without paying, as an employee was closing the gate. The suspect allegedly accelerated his vehicle and struck the employee, a dumpster and power line pole before fleeing the scene. An arriving officer located the suspect at 5
th Road N. and N. Randolph Street and took him into custody without incident. The employee was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Gigssa Bekele Bengessa, 27, of Fairfax, VA was arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding, Destruction of Property and Defrauding a Garagekeeper. He was held on no bond.
RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE, 2020-01130152, 24
th Road S. at S. Lowell Street. At approximately 2:24 p.m. on January 13, police were dispatched to the report of a recovered stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, it was determined that the victim observed her stolen vehicle allegedly occupied by multiple suspects and contacted police. Arriving officers located the vehicle and observed the juvenile suspects exit and flee on foot. A brief foot pursuit ensued and officers located all three suspects and took them into custody without incident. During the course of the investigation, two other vehicles previously reported stolen were also located in the area. Petitions for Grand Larceny: Motor Vehicle Theft (x2) were obtained for one juvenile suspect. A second suspect was released on a summons for Possession of Marijuana. Charges are pending for the third suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
