Crime Report: January 21, 2020

REPORTS


BURGLARY, 2020-01170179, 2900 block of 6th Street S. At approximately 2:00 p.m. on January 17, police were dispatched to the report of a burglary just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined that the victim was inside her residence when she heard noise and allegedly observed the unknown male suspect inside. Upon noticing the victim, the suspect fled the residence. Arriving officers located the suspect in the area and he was positively identified.  During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the suspect had allegedly entered a second residence and stolen items of value (2020-01170179). Daniel Copeland, 24, of Washington, D.C. was arrested and charged with Burglary. The suspect was also determined to be wanted out of Falls Church for Petit Larceny. He was held on no bond.

BURGLARY, 2020-0117019, 3000 block of 7th Street S. At approximately 1:59 p.m. on January 17, police were dispatched to the report of a burglary. Upon arrival, it was determined that the victim was notified of an open door at her residence. Upon responding to the residence, the victim noticed that an unknown suspect had gained entry to the residence, tampered with items and stolen items of value. While on scene investigating, officers investigating a separate burglary in the area found the suspect to be in possession of items allegedly stolen from this residence. Daniel Copeland, 24, of Washington, D.C. was arrested and charged with Burglary and Grand Larceny. He was held on no bond.

RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE, 2020-01170082, 100 block of N. Trenton Street. At approximately 9:50 a.m. on January 17th, police were dispatched to the report of a grand larceny auto. Upon arrival, it was determined that between 6:00 p.m. on January 16 and 8:00 a.m. on January 17, an unknown suspect stole the victim's parked vehicle. The victim subsequently observed an unknown suspect allegedly driving the vehicle in the area and contacted police. Arriving officers located the unoccupied vehicle and suspect in the area. Michael Brunner, 18, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Grand Larceny: Motor Vehicle Theft and No Drivers License.

ATTEMPTED MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2020-01200032, S. Walter Reed Drive at S. Monroe Street. At approximately 3:10 a.m. on January 20, police were on a traffic stop after observing a vehicle drive southbound in the northbound lanes when a second, unrelated vehicle, also traveling on the wrong side of the roadway pulled behind the initial suspect vehicle. As officers approached the vehicle to investigate, they observed a handgun with extended magazine in plain view. The suspect disobeyed the lawful commands of the officers, placed the vehicle into drive and allegedly accelerated towards an officer. The officer quickly moved out of the way to avoid being struck and the vehicle fled the scene at a high rate of speed. The suspect is described as a light skinned black male, early to mid-20's with a thin build and short, braided hair. He was wearing glasses, a tan winter hat and a dark shirt at the time of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2020-01180044, 900 block of N. Jackson Street. At approximately 2:37 a.m. on January 18, police were dispatched to the report of trouble unknown. Upon arrival, it was determined that a dispute between multiple subjects inside of a business moved outside, escalated and became physical. The suspects stole the victim's jacket and phone, entered a vehicle and attempted to flee, striking two additional victims. The parties became reengaged in the dispute and a suspect struck the vehicle with a metal pole, causing damage. The victims sustained minor injuries which did not require medical treatment. The investigation is ongoing.

ROBBERY, 2020-01190177, 800 block of Army Navy Drive. At approximately 5:25 p.m. on January 19 an officer on patrol was flagged down by a citizen requesting assistance. The investigation determined that between 5:05 p.m. and 5:20 p.m., the female victim was sitting inside her parked vehicle when an unknown suspect approached her, brandished a firearm and demanded her cell phone. The suspect fled the scene on foot after stealing the cell phone. The suspect is described as a black male, late teens to early 20's, wearing a dark colored sweater, a hoodie pulled over his head and dark pants. The investigation is ongoing.

ROBBERY, 2020-01170195, 2500 block of 9th Road S. At approximately 3:14 p.m. on January 17, police were dispatched to the report of a larceny. Upon arrival, it was determined that the victim made contact with two subjects who previously stole his phone. He attempted to confront them to retrieve his phone, however, during the encounter, the suspect stole the victim's iPad. When the victim attempted to call police, the suspects pushed the victim and fled. Suspect One is described as a black male, with long black dreads, about 5'8", medium build, late 20's years old and wearing a blue jacket. Suspect Two is described as a male, homeless, possibly from Pakistan, in his 40's, about 6'2", with a skinny build, short black hair and wearing a green jacket. The investigation is ongoing.

BURGLARY, 2020-01170313, Unit block of N. Glebe Road. At approximately 11:38 p.m. on January 17, police were dispatched to the report of an alarm. Upon arrival, it was determined that that a group of suspects forced entry to a business, rummaged through items, and fled prior to police arrival. Nothing was reported stolen from the business. There are no suspect descriptions. The investigation is ongoing.

BURGLARY, 2020-01200081, 4800 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 11:24 a.m. on January 20, police were dispatched to the report of a burglary just discovered. Upon arrival, it was determined that between 11:30 p.m. on January 19 and 11:24 a.m. on January 20, an unknown suspect(s) forced entry into a business and stole items of value and cash. There is no suspect description. The investigation is ongoing.

BURGLARY (late), 2020-01190168, 4600 block of S. Four Mile Run Drive. At approximately 5:56 p.m. on January 19, police were dispatched to the report of a late larceny. Upon arrival, it was determined that between 8:00 a.m. on January 6 and 11:59 p.m. on January 18, an unknown suspect entered the victim's residence and stole personal property. There is no suspect description. The investigation is ongoing.
