Man Dies in Arlington County Detention Facility

ARLINGTON, Va. — Darryl Becton, 46, died on October 1, 2020, after he was found unconscious in his cell at the Arlington County Detention Facility.

Mr. Becton was found unconscious in his cell at 4:17 p.m. Deputies and medical staff began immediate resuscitation efforts after finding him, before Arlington Fire & Rescue units arrived. He was pronounced dead by Medic 102 at 4:48 p.m. on scene.

Mr. Becton was arrested on September 29, 2020, and charged with Probation Violation, awaiting his court hearing.

Mr. Becton's family was notified of his death later in the evening.

An autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will be conducted to determine cause of death. Following standard procedure, the death is being investigated by the Arlington County Police Department.
