REPORTS

WEAPONS VIOLATION, 2021-05130163, 900 block of S. Columbus Street. At approximately 7:41 p.m. on May 13, an officer conducting speed enforcement in the 1800 block of S. George Mason Drive observed a driver traveling at a high rate of speed while trailing another vehicle. As the officer attempted to stop the driver, he sped up, went around the other vehicle and fled through a red light. The officer located the vehicle parked in the 900 block of S. Columbus Street and detained the driver and passenger. The officer located a baby in an unsecured carrier in the vehicle. During the course of the investigation, officers recovered a stolen firearm and determined that the driver did not have a license. The driver, a juvenile, was arrested and petitions were obtained for Receiving a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Handgun by a Juvenile, Eluding Police, No Driver's License and Cruelty to Children. Child Protective Services was notified regarding the baby.

ROBBERY, 2021-05130135, 1100 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 4:15 p.m. on May 13, police were dispatched to the report of an assault that had just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined that the suspect entered a store, selected merchandise and began walking towards the exit without paying. When confronted by an employee, he pushed her in the shoulders and continued towards the exit. When the employee tried to step in front of him, he grabbed her by the throat, squeezed and pushed her away. The suspect exited the store, threw the merchandise back towards the store and walked off. The suspect is described as a medium/dark complexion Black male in his mid-20's, 5'5" — 5'6" tall, thin build with short hair, and a light mustache. He was wearing a large, puffy, silver jacket, black pants and black shoes. Responding officers observed a man matching the suspect's description in the Pentagon City Metro. The area was searched with negative results. The investigation is ongoing.

ROBBERY, 2021-05130021, 1800 block of Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 3:13 a.m. on May 13, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined that a verbal dispute occurred between the suspect and employee of a convenience store regarding payment of cigarettes. A brief struggle ensued over the cigarettes, during which the suspect forcefully removed it from the employee's hand. The employee attempted to prevent the suspect from leaving the store but she exited and fled the scene traveling in a gray Chevy SUV. The suspect is described as a Black female with black hair, 5'0"-5'3" tall and weighing 190-200 lbs. The suspect was wearing black dress pants, a black shirt and a black fleece jacket. Officers searched the area with negative results. The investigation is ongoing.
