REPORTS
ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2022-06110196, 1100 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 9:00 p.m. on June 11, police were dispatched to the report of a disorderly subject. Upon arrival, officers met with security who advised the female suspect had been smoking inside the building and they wanted her banned from the property. Officers located the suspect and asked her to leave the premises. During the incident, the suspect became combative and struck an officer in the face. The suspect continued to attempt to strike the officers, and with the assistance of an additional responding officer, she was taken into custody. Sequita Merritte, 46, of Hyattsville, MD, was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery on a Police (x2). She was held without bond.
ROBBERY, 2022-06100119, 200 block of S. Glebe Road. At approximately 12:21 p.m. on June 10, police were dispatched to the report of an assault with injury involving a weapon. Upon arrival, officers located the suspect inside the business and gave him verbal commands which he refused to comply with. As officers attempted to take him into custody, he actively resisted and a struggle ensued. Officers then deployed a Taser and were able to take the suspect into custody. The investigation revealed that after purchasing merchandise, the suspect selected additional items and consumed one without paying. Upon being confronted by an employee, the suspect allegedly grabbed him, brandished a hammer and swung it towards him. The employee was able to avoid being struck. The suspect then struck a glass display case with the hammer, causing it to break. Brian Driver, 44, of No Fixed Address was arrested and charged with Attempted Malicious Wounding, Robbery, Obstruction of Justice and Destruction of Property. He was held without bond.
ROBBERY, 2022-06110239, 4600 block of King Street. At approximately 11:24 p.m. on June 11, police were dispatched to the report of a larceny that has just occurred. Upon arrival, the victim stated two unknown suspects entered the business at 11:11 p.m., went behind the counter and began to steal merchandise by placing the items into bags. During the incident, one of the suspects made a gesture implying he had a firearm. The suspects are described a Black males wearing all black clothing who fled in a white SUV. The investigation is ongoing.
UNLAWFUL ENTRY (late), 2022-06100004, 1100 block of Arlington Boulevard. At approximately 12:15 a.m. on June 10, police were dispatched to the late report of a breaking and entering. Upon arrival, the victim who stated at approximately 10:45 p.m. on June 9, he was inside his residence when he heard the door open. Upon investigation, he observed the unknown male suspect inside and told him to leave. Nothing of value was reported stolen. The suspect is described as a Black male, 5’10” tall, with short black hair, wearing casual clothing and carrying a satchel. The investigation is ongoing.
UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 2022-06120181, 1800 block of N. Nash Street. At approximately 10:16 p.m. on June 12, police were dispatched to a report of a breaking and entering that had just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined the victim was entering the elevator, which opens directly into his residence, when the suspect exited the elevator into the home. When the victim asked the suspect to leave his residence, the suspect allegedly pushed the victim. The victim was subsequently able to push the suspect out of the residence and into the hallway. Joseph Martore, 39, of Arlington, VA was charged with Unlawful Entry and Assault and Battery and released on a summons.
