REPORTS
UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 2022-04290188, 1900 block of Fort Myer Drive. At approximately 4:52 p.m. on April 29, police were dispatched to the report of an attempted breaking and entering in progress. Upon arrival, the reporting party stated the subject had allegedly attempted to gain entry to the business and had subsequently fled the scene on foot. Responding officers canvassed the area and received a call of a larceny in progress in the 1500 block of Wilson Blvd with an individual matching the description of the suspect. Officers located the suspect and took him into custody without incident. The investigation determined the suspect had stolen merchandise from a business and a search of his person recovered burglarious tools. The officers also determined the same suspect had successfully gained entry to the original business on a previous date. Garland Mines, 36, of no fixed address was arrested and charged with burglary, grand larceny, unlawful entry (x2), attempted unlawful entry, possession of burglarious tools and petit larceny.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2022-04290157, 800 block of S. Florida Street. At approximately 2:41 p.m. on April 29, police were dispatched to the report of an assault in progress. Upon arrival, officers located the victim suffering from a laceration and provided emergency medical aid before being transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The investigation determined the victim and known suspect became involved in a verbal dispute which escalated into a physical altercation during which the suspect allegedly produced a box cutter resulting in a laceration on the victim. The suspect fled the scene prior to the arrival of police. The investigation is ongoing.
