July 2022 County Board Meeting Agenda Highlights

The Arlington County Board will consider and act on dozens of items at its Regular Board Meeting on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 8:30 a.m., and its Recessed Meeting on Tuesday, June 19, 2022, at 3:00 p.m.

The meetings, held in the County Board Room on the third floor of 2100 Clarendon Blvd., are open to the public. Visit the County website for information on speaking at a County Board Meeting.

Virtual participation options are also available to the public through Microsoft Teams.  We will seek to accommodate visitor preferences for COVID precautions, including distancing; masking is also welcome at the preference of visitors. If you are sick or experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, please consider watching the meeting’s live webcast or cable broadcast or participating virtually via Microsoft Teams. Comment on Agenda Items and Speak at the Meeting

Send your written comments on agenda items to the County Board at CountyBoard@arlingtonva.us. All comments received by the Board are made part of the public record and are before the Board members as they consider items.

If you wish to comment during the Public Comment period at the start of the Regular Hearing, or on a Regular Public Hearing Item, register in advance on the County Board website, where you can also find more details on public participation in virtual Board Meetings, or call the Board Office at 703-228-3130 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday. Online Registration opens once the agenda for the meeting is posted, approximately one week before the meeting.

Saturday, July 16, 2022 – Regular County Board Meeting

Courthouse West, Item #39.  The Board will consider a request to authorize the advertisement of future public to consider actions pertaining to the Courthouse West Special General Land Use Plan (GLUP) Study.  If approved, the Planning Commission and County Board will hold public hearings in September to consider adoption of the Courthouse West Special GLUP Study document and associated rezoning and site plan applications for area located on the block bordered by Wilson Boulevard, North Cleveland Street, Clarendon Boulevard, and North Danville Street.  Visit the Courthouse West Special Land Use Study website for more information.

The Heights Building, Item #37.  The Board will hold a public hearing and consider a Use Permit Amendment for a below-grade parking structure with a lighted synthetic turf field above.  The field, part of the Heights campus, will be located at 1601 Wilson Boulevard and requires modification to the ACZO parking requirements. 

Tuesday, July 19, 2022 – Recessed County Board Meeting

The Recessed Meeting will begin at 3 p.m. with reports from the Board Members and the County Manager.

No earlier than 6:30 p.m. the Board will hold a public hearing and consider items pulled from the Saturday Consent Agenda. Regular public hearings will be held after carryover Consent Agenda items are considered.

Arlington County Trust Policy, Item #41.  Board members will consider taking action on the  proposed draft language of a Trust Policy designed to adopt robust safeguards for all Arlingtonians, so they may feel free to interact with local government without the fear of federal immigration action.  The Board heard public comment regarding the draft policy at the June Board meeting and will now consider its adoption.

2023-2032 Capital Improvement Plan, Item #40.  The Board will consider adoption of the County Manager’s proposed 10-year Capital Improvement Plan and bond referenda for large infrastructure projects that will be considered by voters in November 2022.  The $3.9 billion budget includes significant investment in stormwater management, flood response, climate and environmental programs, parks, transportation, and community infrastructure.  A public hearing on the CIP was held on June 28, 2022.  To view proposed investments across the County, see the new CIP interactive project map.  Also, visit the CIP website for more information.
