The Arlington County Board will consider and act on dozens of items at its Regular Board Meeting on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 8:30 AM, and its Recessed Meeting on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at 3 PM.

The meetings, held in the County Board Room on the third floor of 2100 Clarendon Blvd., are open to the public. Visit the County website for information on speaking at a County Board Meeting.

Virtual participation options are available to the public through Microsoft Teams.  We will seek to accommodate visitor preferences for COVID precautions, including distancing; masking is also welcome at the preference of visitors. If you are sick or experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, please consider watching the meeting’s live webcast or cable broadcast or participating virtually via Microsoft Teams. Comment on Agenda Items and Speak at the Meeting

Send your written comments on agenda items to the County Board at CountyBoard@arlingtonva.us. All comments received by the Board are made part of the public record and are before the Board members as they consider items.

If you wish to comment during the Public Comment period at the start of the Regular Hearing, or on a Regular Public Hearing Item, register in advance on the County Board website, where you can also find more details on public participation in virtual Board Meetings, or call the Board Office at 703-228-3130 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday. Online Registration opens once the agenda for the meeting is posted, approximately one week before the meeting.

Saturday, May 14, 2022 – Regular County Board Meeting

1425 N Quincy Street, Items 27 & 28.  The Board will consider a Use Permit and Amendment to the original licensing agreement for the parking of Arlington Public Schools white fleet vehicles on county-owned property at the Quincy Street location.  In addition, space at the location will also be used to park ART buses until the completion of the Shirlington Road location.  County staff has worked diligently to engage with residents and mitigate impact on the surrounding neighborhood. 

2629 Shirlington Road, Items 29 & 30.  The Board will consider a Use Permit and Amendment for commercial vehicle parking at the Shirlington Road location.  This project, costing an estimated $7.3M, will provide for the construction of an Arlington Transit (ART) Operations and Maintenance facility, as well as infrastructure and charging equipment for Battery Electric Buses (BEBs).  This project furthers the Board’s commitment to both sustainable energy initiatives and equitable transportation options around Arlington.

 

Tuesday, May 17, 2022 – Recessed County Board Meeting

The virtual Recessed Meeting will begin at 3 p.m. with reports from the Board Members and the County Manager.

Fiscal Year 2023 Capital Improvement Plans (CIP) presentation.  County Manager Mark Schwartz and his staff will present a proposed FY2023-2032 Capital Improvement Plan, representing a return to ten-year Capital Planning after a series of shorter-term plans during the pandemic. The County Board will hold work sessions and public hearings on the Manager’s Proposed CIP during May and June.

Ballston Quarter Community Development Authority Meeting.  The County Board will convene as the Ballston Quarter Community Development Authority for an annually required meeting.

Public Hearings

No earlier than 6:30 p.m. the Board will hold a public hearing and consider items pulled from the Saturday Consent Agenda. Regular public hearings will be held after carryover Consent Agenda items are considered.
