Courthouse West, Item #44. The Board will consider the adoption of the Courthouse West Special General Land Use Plan (GLUP) Study Document to guide future redevelopment for the site located on the block bordered by Wilson Boulevard, North Cleveland Street, Clarendon Boulevard, and North Danville Street. As part of the Study Document, the Board will consider maximum building height guidance for 12 to 16 stories to support mixed-use, medium-density development consistent with the vision for the study and a future GLUP designation of “Medium” Office-Apartment Hotel. Although the County Manager is recommending a 12-story maximum building height, at its July 16, 2022 meeting, the Board expanded the scope of the advertisement to allow for discussion of a 16-story maximum building height. If approved, a GLUP amendment and an associated rezoning may be considered in the future to guide potential redevelopment of the site. Read the Board Report and visit the Courthouse West Special Land Use Study website for more information.

Speed Limit Decrease, Item #22. As part of the consent agenda, the Board will consider an amendment to County Code Chapter 14.2 Section 14.2-21(a) to decrease the speed limit on Fairfax Drive from Arlington Boulevard to North Barton Street (neighborhood roadway) and 5th Road south from South Carlin Springs Road to the Fairfax County line (minor arterial road near a school). The results of studies conducted at the request of Arlington County residents and in alignment with the Vision Zero Action Plan by the Department of Environmental Services, Division of Transportation, recommend that the speed limit be decreased from 30 mph to 25 mph on a portion of Fairfax Drive, and from 35 mph to 25 mph on a portion of 5th Road South. Read the Board Report for more information.

Tuesday, September 20, 2022 – Recessed County Board Meeting

The Recessed Meeting will begin at 3 p.m. with reports from the Board Members and the County Manager.

No earlier than 6:30 p.m. the Board will hold a public hearing and consider any items pulled from the Saturday Consent Agenda.

The meeting will be live streamed on the County website, and on YouTube, and broadcast on Arlington TV, the County’s cable channel, with live captioning, on Comcast 25 & 1085 (HD), and Verizon FiOS 39 & 40.
