REPORTS
MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2023-02250059, 4500 block 31st Street S. At approximately 3:01 a.m. on February 25, police were dispatched to the report of an assault just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim heard a disturbance outside his residence and upon investigating, observed the female suspect involved in a verbal dispute with a witness. The suspect then allegedly sprayed the victim with pepper spray before entering a parked vehicle. Responding officers located the suspect in the vehicle and took her into custody. The victim was treated on scene by medics. Credit cards belonging to other individuals were recovered inside the suspect’s vehicle. Jayde Burgos, 30, of Arlington, Va., was arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding by Caustic Agent, Credit Card Theft (x2) and Public Intoxication.
ABDUCTION, 2023-02250226, 5000 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 6:29 p.m. on February 25, police were dispatched to the report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival, it was determined the juvenile victim and his parents were at the register then the suspect approached and allegedly grabbed the child’s hand and ran to a different area within the business. The victim’s parents located the child within the store and resumed custody of the child. Responding officers located the suspect in the area and took him into custody. Yohana Gebremeskel, 31, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Abduction. He was held on no bond.
ROBBERY, 2023-02260119, 1200 block of S. Fern Street. At approximately 2:29 p.m. on February 26, police were dispatched to the report of a shoplifter in custody. The investigation determined two male suspects entered the business, allegedly selected electronics and attempted to exit without paying for the merchandise. An employee confronted the suspects but Suspect One was able to exit the business with the stolen merchandise and flee the scene in a white truck. Following a brief struggle over the cart containing the merchandise, Suspect Two was detained by loss prevention employees. Malcolm Land, 38, of Pikesville, Md., was arrested and charged with Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Larceny, and Larceny with Intent to Sell. He was held on no bond. Suspect One is described as a Black male, wearing a dark color jacket, white face mask, and black beanie. The investigation is ongoing.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2023-02260020, 3100 block of Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 1:51 a.m. on February 26, police were dispatched to the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, it was determined a group was leaving an establishment when a physical altercation ensued between the suspect and victim, during which the victim sustained lacerations. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries considered non-life threatening. The suspect is described as an older Black male, approximately 6’1” tall and wearing a windbreaker. The investigation is ongoing.
CARJACKING, 2023-02250258, 2000 block of N. Adams. At approximately 9:39 p.m. on February 25, police were dispatched to the report of an armed robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined the victims were exiting their parked car when two unknown male suspects approached, brandished a firearm and stole the keys to the vehicle and two cell phones. The suspects then fled the scene in the stolen vehicle and were followed by a suspect driving a dark colored sedan. The victims’ vehicle was later located unoccupied in Washington D.C. and the suspects’ vehicle, which was determined to have been stolen, was located unoccupied on the George Washington Parkway. The suspects are described as Black males, approximately 20 years old wearing puffy jackets and face masks. The investigation is ongoing.
PEEPING, 2023-02240005, 4400 block of 31st Street S. At approximately 12:08 a.m. on February 24, police were dispatched to the report of a peeping. Upon arrival, it was determined the female victim was inside her residence when she heard noise outside her window and observed the unknown male suspect in her backyard appearing to look into her residence. The suspect fled the scene on foot prior to the arrival of police. The suspect is described as a Black male in his 20’s, approximately 5’7” – 5’8” with a skinny build and short dreadlocks, wearing a dark color hoodie with a light color shirt underneath. The investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY, 2023-02250134, 2000 block of S. Fillmore Street. At approximately 12:20 p.m. on February 25, police were dispatched to the report of suspicious circumstances. Upon arrival, it was determined between approximately 12:01 p.m. on February 21 and 12:20 p.m. on February 25, the unknown male suspects made entry to the unoccupied home, caused property damage and stole a TV and building materials. Suspect One is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’7”-5’9”, approximately 150 pounds, wearing a red shirt and jeans. There is no description of Suspect Two. The investigation is ongoing.
ATTEMPTED BURLGARY, 2023-02260096, 1800 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 12:11 p.m. on February 26, police were dispatched to the report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, determined the female victim was inside her residence when the known male suspect allegedly attempted to force entry inside, causing damage to the front door. The suspect then fled the scene and a canvass of the area by responding officers yielded negative results. During the course of the investigation, the victim determined her exterior doorbell camera had been stolen and later located it outside the residential building. No injuries were reported. Warrants for Attempted Burglary, Destruction of Property, and Petit Larceny were obtained for the suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
ATTEMPTED UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 2023-02260232, 1900 block of N. Culpepper Street. At approximately 10:37 p.m. on February 26, police were dispatched to the report of a trouble unknown. Upon arrival, it was determined the female victim entered the residential building when the unknown suspect followed her inside. As the victim was opening the door to her residence, she observed the suspect behind her and yelled. The suspect then fled the scene on foot. The suspect is described as a White male with a medium build, shoulder length curly brown hair, wearing all black clothing. The investigation is ongoing.
