REPORTS

ATTEMPTED MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2023-04280202, 1100 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 6:17 p.m. on April 28, a patrol officer was flagged down by an individual reporting a fight in-progress. Upon arrival, the officer observed loss prevention attempting to detain the suspect and assisted with taking him into custody. The investigation determined the suspect entered the store and allegedly removed handbags from a display case. A loss prevention officer then confronted the suspect who pushed the loss prevention officer to the ground and physically assaulted him before fleeing the area. Two additional loss prevention officers located the suspect outside of the business and attempted to detain him, during which the suspect assaulted them and brandished a knife. Medics evaluated the loss prevention officers on scene for minor injuries. During a search incident to arrest, credit cards not belonging to the suspect were recovered. Marcus Lee, 30, of Washington, DC, was arrested and charged with Attempted Malicious Wounding, Robbery, Assault and Battery (x2), Credit Card Theft (x3) and Possession of Burglarious Tools.

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY, 2023-04280216, 4200 block of Fairfax Drive. At approximately 7:38 p.m. on April 28, police were dispatched to the report of an assault just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined the suspect entered the store, selected merchandise and allegedly attempted to leave the business without payment, during which an employee confronted him. The suspect then attempted to throw the merchandise at the employee and a struggle ensued. Responding officers took the suspect into custody on scene and a search of his person incident to arrest yielded suspected narcotics. The suspect and employee sustained minor injuries. Mohamed Abdi, 41, of No Fixed Address, was arrested and charged with Attempted Robbery, Petit Larceny, Possession of Schedule I/II and Drunk in Public.

BRANDISHING, 2023-04290156, 3800 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 2:58 p.m. on April 29, police were dispatched to the report of suspicious circumstances involving a vehicle previously stolen from another jurisdiction. Responding officers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and fled the scene at a high rate of speed. The investigation determined the victim and known suspects, who were inside the vehicle, became involved in a verbal dispute, during which one suspect allegedly brandished a firearm. No injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2023-04300234, Columbia Pike at S. Dinwiddie Street. At approximately 10:49 p.m. on April 30, police were dispatched to the report of an assault just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined the suspect when leaving a public transit bus when he assaulted the driver.  Following the assault, the suspect exited the bus and fled the scene on foot. The bus driver sustained serious, non-life threatening injuries and was treated on scene by medics before being transported to an area hospital. The suspect is described as a Black male, wearing a multi-color mask, black jacket and jeans. The investigation is ongoing.

BURGLARY, 2023-04300036, 5000 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 2:15 a.m. on April 30, police were dispatched to the report of a burglary just occurred. Upon arrival, responding officers established a perimeter, conducted a search of the business and no one was located inside. The investigation determined five suspects forced entry into a business, rummaged through items and stole merchandise before fleeing the scene in two vehicles. The suspects are described as Black males, approximately 15-18 years old, 5’7”-5’10” tall, 150-170 pounds. The two suspect vehicles are described as a blue sedan and a bronze crossover. The investigation is ongoing.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 2023-04300090, 800 block of S. Greenbrier Street. At approximately 10:37 a.m. on April 30, police were dispatched to the report of a dispute. Upon arrival, it was determined the victim and known suspect became involved in a verbal dispute, during which the suspect allegedly attempted to force entry into the victim’s residence, causing damage to the front door. No injuries were reported. The victim was provided with information about the process of obtaining warrants.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY (late), 2023-04290139, 800 block of N. Randolph Street. At approximately 1:22 p.m. on April 29, police were dispatched to the late report of a breaking and entering. Upon arrival, it was determined at approximately 3:00 a.m., the unknown male suspect made entry to the building and rummaged through a common area before leaving the scene. No items were reported stolen or damaged. The suspect is described as a medium-build Black male, approximately 35-40 years old, approximately 5’10”, wearing a blue shirt, shorts and sandals. The investigation is ongoing.
