Media Advisory: Citizenship Day Celebration

Arlington County’s Department of Human Services invites members of the media to attend a Citizenship Day Celebration on Mon., Sep. 18, 2023. The event will celebrate individuals who have become U.S. citizens with the assistance of County programs, as well as instructors from the program.

Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, as it is officially known, recognizes the adoption of the United States Constitution and those who have become U.S. citizens. It is observed each year on Sep. 17, the day in 1787 that the Founding Fathers signed the U.S. Constitution.

Since Jan. 2020, Arlington County’s Department of Human Services (DHS) and 25 instructors have helped 128 people achieve U.S. citizenship. All students and instructors have been invited to Monday’s celebration.

Who:

  • Individuals who have become U.S. citizens with the assistance of County programs, as well as instructors from the program.

When: Mon., Sep. 18, 2023, 6 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Where: Arlington Mill Community Center, Room 527, 909 S Dinwiddie St, Arlington, VA 22204. (Parking is available under the building and is free for first 4 hours.)
