REPORTS
BRANDISHING, 2023-12300122, 2400 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 2:46 p.m. on December 30, police were dispatched to the report of a brandishing. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim and male suspect became involved in a verbal dispute over a parking space which escalated into a physical altercation during which the suspect allegedly brandished a firearm. The suspect fled the scene in his vehicle and was located by responding officers. A firearm was recovered. Zachary Sudbeck, 26, of Stafford, VA was arrested and charged with Brandishing, Assault & Battery and Concealed Weapon Violation.
BRANDISHING, 2023-12310053, 5200 block of 10th Place S. At approximately 5:01 a.m. on December 31, police were dispatched to the report of a dispute. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim and female suspect were inside a residence when they became involved in a verbal dispute, during which the suspect allegedly brandished a firearm. A firearm was recovered on scene. Ilse Williams, 26, of Arlington, VA was arrested and charged with Brandishing.
ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2023-12290134, Fairfax Drive at N. George Mason Drive. At approximately 2:45 p.m. on December 29, police were dispatched to the report of a suspicious person with a knife. The preliminary investigation determined the victim was stopped in her vehicle when the male suspect allegedly ran towards her driver's side door while displaying a knife. The victim drove away and called police. Responding officers located the suspect in the 4800 block of Fairfax Drive and attempted to take him into custody. The suspect refused to comply with the officers’ commands and actively resisted arrest. With the assistance of additional officers, the suspect was taken into custody during which he kicked an officer in the chest. The suspect provided officers with false identifying information but was subsequently positively identified. During a search incident to arrest, the suspect grabbed the holster of an officer’s firearm. Knives were recovered on the suspect. Alexis Zapata, 31, of Manassas, VA was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery, Assault on Police, Attempt to Disarm Law Enforcement Officer of their Firearm, Identity Theft and Obstruction of Justice.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2024-01010009, 800 block of S. Frederick Street. At approximately 12:21 a.m. on January 1, police were dispatched to the report of an assault just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect and male victim were exiting a residential building when they became involved in a verbal dispute, during which the suspect assaulted the victim with a beer bottle, resulting in a laceration. The victim was transported to an area hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries. Elvis Flores Alvarado, 41, of Arlington, VA was arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding, Assault and Battery, and Drunk in Public.
ROBBERY, 2023-12290174, 1100 block of S. Joyce Street. At approximately 6:03 p.m. on December 29, police were dispatched to the report of a shoplifting in progress. Upon arrival, it was determined the suspect entered a business, concealed merchandise and exited without payment. Store employees confronted the suspect during which he threatened them before running from the scene. Responding officers canvassed the area for the suspect with negative results. The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 5’9” tall, wearing a denim jacket, blue shirt, black sweatpants and a camouflage ski mask. The investigation is ongoing.
ROBBERY, 2023-12310113, 200 block of N. Glebe Road. At approximately 2:10 p.m. on December 31, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined the suspect entered a business, approached an employee and deployed pepper spray before stealing cigarettes. The suspect then fled the scene in a black SUV. Medics treated the employee on scene for exposure to the pepper spray. The suspect is described as a Black male wearing a green hoodie, blue jeans and a black face mask. The investigation is ongoing.
ROBBERY, 2023-12310116, 4200 block of Fairfax Drive. At approximately 2:25 p.m. on December 31, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery by force. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim was walking in the area when the suspect approached from behind, placed a knife to his back and demanded and stole cash. The suspect is described as a Black male in his 30s, approximately 5’4” tall with a thin build, short curly hair and wearing jeans and a green sweatshirt. The investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY (late), 2023-1230071, 1700 block of Clarendon Boulevard. At approximately 7:58 a.m. on December 30, police were dispatched to the late report of a burglary. Upon arrival, it was determined between 5:30 p.m. on December 29 and 7:58 a.m. on December 30, the unknown suspect forced entry into an office and stole electronics. There is no suspect(s) description. The investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY, 2023-12300095, 1800 block of N. Quinn Street. At approximately 11:31 a.m. on December 30, police were dispatched to the report of suspicious circumstances. Upon arrival, it was determined the unknown suspect gained entry to an unoccupied apartment, rummaged through items and stole credit cards. There is no suspect(s) description. The investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY (late), 2023-12300099, 1600 block of Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 12:07 p.m. on December 30, police were dispatched to the late report of a larceny. Upon arrival, it was determined at approximately 2:51 p.m. on December 22, the suspect gained entry into the business and stole electronics. The suspect is described as a Black male with a medium complexion, 40-50 years old, approximately 5’01” to 5’04” tall with a medium build and wearing a black beanie, black coat and gray jeans. The investigation is ongoing.
UNLAWFUL ENTRY (late), 2023-12300098, 1800 block of N. Quinn Street. At approximately 12:15 p.m. on December 30, police responded to the late report of a possible breaking and entering. Upon arrival, it was determined at approximately 1:20 a.m. a maintenance worker located a suspect inside a vacant apartment. The suspect fled the scene on foot. The suspect is described as a tall, skinny Black male, mid-30’s, approximately 6'5" with short black hair. The investigation is ongoing.
MISSILE INTO OCCUPIED DWELLING, 2024-01010052, 2700 block of S. Grant Street. At approximately 3:36 a.m. on January 1, police were dispatched to the report of a destruction of property. Upon arrival, it was determined an occupant of the residence was awoken to the sound of broken glass and upon investigating, determined a rock had been thrown through their window. No injuries were reported. There is no suspect(s) description. The investigation is ongoing.
GRAND LARCENY, 2024-01010144, 1100 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 5:58 p.m. on January 1, police were dispatched to the report of a larceny just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim was sitting with his jacket on the back of his chair when the juvenile male suspect ran by, grabbed his jacket and continued running out of the building. Responding officers canvassed the area and observed the suspect in the metro. The suspect then ran from the officers and, following a foot pursuit, he was taken into custody in the 1200 block of S. Hayes Street. The victim’s jacket, which contained his wallet and cash, was recovered. Petitions were obtained for the juvenile suspect for Grand Larceny and Obstruction of Justice.
