REPORTS

ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2024-11200142, 1600 block of 18^th Street N. At approximately 1:04 p.m. on November 20, police were dispatched to the report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim was outside a residential building when the male suspect began chasing him with a knife. A responding officer observed the suspect and issued him commands. The suspect was non-compliant and subsequently grabbed the officer and attempted to strike them. The suspect resisted the officer’s attempts to detain him and with the assistance of additional responding officers, the suspect was taken into custody. The officer sustained minor injuries and the victim did not report any injuries. While in custody the suspect continued to act disorderly and attempted to kick another officer. During the course of the investigation, a knife was recovered. Brian Driver, 46, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Assault on Police, Attempted Malicious Wounding of a Law Enforcement Officer, Attempted Assault & Battery, Obstruction of Justice and Public Intoxication. He was held without bond.

ROBBERY, 2024-11200202, 1100 block of S. Joyce Street. At approximately 5:03 p.m. on November 20, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery by force. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect entered the business, collected merchandise and attempted to exit the store without payment during which he was confronted by loss prevention personnel. The suspect pushed past loss prevention personnel before fleeing the scene. No injuries were reported. Responding officers canvassed the area for the suspect yielding negative results. The suspect is described as a Black male wearing all black clothing and a beanie carrying a white bag. The investigation is ongoing.

ATTEMPTED MALICIOUS WOUNDING (late), 2024-11190067, 2700 block of Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 10:22 a.m. on November 19, the victim self-reported to the police station for the late report of an assault. It was determined at approximately 9:00 a.m., the male victim was sitting outside in the 2100 block of Clarendon Boulevard when the male suspect approached and engaged him in conversation. The victim then left the area on foot during which the suspect followed him to the 2700 block of Clarendon Boulevard where he subsequently struck the victim with a rock before fleeing the scene. The victim then traveled to the police station for assistance where medics responded and evaluated him for minor injuries. The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 5’11”, 175 pounds, wearing a striped shirt, dark jeans, a hat and eyeglasses. The investigation is ongoing.
