REPORTS
ROBBERY, 2024-10140086, 2900 block of S. Glebe Road. At approximately 1:41 p.m. on October 14, police were dispatched to the report of destruction of property. Upon arrival, it was determined the female victim, operating as a delivery driver at the time of the incident, was inside her parked delivery vehicle when the female suspect allegedly approached on foot and initiated a dispute over packages. The suspect then damaged the delivery vehicle’s windshield wiper and stole packages from inside the vehicle. The victim attempted to prevent the suspect from taking the items before the suspect fled the scene. Responding officers located the suspect in a nearby residential building and took her into custody. Helen Mengesha, 35, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Robbery and Destruction of Property. She was held without bond.
ROBBERY, 2024-10140073, 2900 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 12:15 p.m. on October 14, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery by force. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim was at a bus stop in the 1000 block of S. Glebe Road when he was approached by the two male suspects wearing ski masks. The victim ran from the area and the suspects caught up with him in the 900 block of S. Walter Reed where a struggle ensued over the victim’s cellphone and backpack during which the suspects implied a weapon. The suspects then fled the scene on foot with the stolen items. No injuries were reported. Responding officers canvassed the area for the suspects yielding negative results. Suspect One is described as a Black male, approximately 5’8”-5’10”, wearing all black clothing and a black ski mask. Suspect Two is described as a Black male, approximately 5’10”-6’0”, wearing a red sweatshirt, black pants, black shoes and a black ski mask. The investigation is ongoing.
UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 2024-10140181, 3100 block of S. High Street. At approximately 10:45 p.m. on October 14, police were dispatched to the report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim was inside his residence when he heard a noise outside. Upon further investigation, the victim observed the male suspect on his property and confronted him. The suspect then fled the scene on foot. The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 50-60 years old, 6’2”-6’3” with facial hair wearing all black clothing. The investigation is ongoing.
UNLAWFUL ENTRY (late), 2024-10110139, 2600 block of Shirlington Road. At approximately 5:06 p.m. on October 11, police were dispatched to the late report of a breaking and entering. It was determined between May and October 2024, the suspect(s) forced entry into the victim’s secured storage unit, causing property damage. There is no suspect description(s). The investigation is ongoing.
