REPORTS
ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2024-10060137, 3500 block of 22nd Street S. At approximately 6:00 p.m. on October 6, police were dispatched to the report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect was driving erratically in the area and subsequently exited the vehicle and left it running in the roadway. A responding officer observed the suspect walking away from the vehicle and issued commands for him to stop. The suspect ignored the officer’s commands and continued walking away, during which he produced a lighter and lit it close to the officer’s face. With the assistance of an additional arriving officer, they attempted to take the suspect into custody. The suspect remained non-compliant, actively resisted arrest and grabbed the officers. A third officer arrived on scene and the suspect was taken into custody. During a search incident to arrest, suspected narcotics were recovered. As part of the investigation, the suspect was transported to an area hospital where he continued to be combative and attempted to bite an officer. Travis Singleton, 45, of Alexandria, VA was arrested and charged with Attempted Malicious Wounding of Law Enforcement, Assault on Police (x2), Obstruction of Justice, and Driving Under the Influence.
ROBBERY, 2024-10050151, 1100 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 5:40 p.m. on October 5, police were dispatched to the report of possible shots heard. The preliminary investigation indicates four suspects approached a business, deployed a fire extinguisher, smashed glass display cases with hammers and stole jewelry from the business. The suspects then fled the scene on foot towards the parking garage and subsequently entered a black sedan. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident. Responding officers canvassed the area for the suspects yielding negative results. The four suspects are described as Black males with thin builds, approximately 15 – 18 years old, 5’08” tall, wearing black hoodies and ski and/or surgical masks. The investigation is ongoing.
BRANDISHING, 2024-10040173, S. Greenbrier Street at 7th Street S. At approximately 5:45 p.m. on October 4, police were dispatched to the report of suspicious circumstances. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim stopped his vehicle at a stop sign when the juvenile male suspect, who was with a group of 3 additional juveniles, brandished what was later determined to be a water bead gun and discharged projectiles. No injuries or property damage was reported. Additional officers located the juveniles walking in the area and following a brief foot pursuit, two were detained. A petition for Brandishing was obtained for the juvenile suspect and he was released to the custody of his parents.
GRAND LARCENY AUTO/LARCENY FROM AUTO (Series) (Late), 2024-10060062, 100 block of S. Aberdeen Street. At approximately 8:59 a.m. on October 6, police were dispatched to the report of a stolen vehicle. It was determined at approximately 5:03 a.m., two suspects stole the victim’s vehicle from their driveway. The victim’s purse, containing credit cards, were in the vehicle and fraudulent charges were subsequently reported. During a canvass of the area, officers located five additional vehicles in the area had been entered and rummaged through. The stolen vehicle is described as a white 2018 Lexus RX 450 Hybrid with Virginia license plate UFA9793. There are no descriptions for the suspects. The investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY (late), 2024-10050129, 1700 block of N. Pierce Street. At approximately 2:43 p.m. on October 5, police were dispatched to the late report of a breaking and entering. Upon arrival, it was determined the victim returned to their residence after an extended time away and located items not belonging to them inside the residence. No items were reported stolen from the residence. Witnesses reported observing a suspect gaining access to the residence. The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 20-30 years old, 5’7” tall, and a thin build. The investigation is ongoing.
