Arlington Seeks Memorable Monikers for Snow-fighting Fleet
Published on October 07, 2024
Arlington’s Department of Environmental Services (DES) is turning to the public for a blizzard of the most clever and pun-filled (yet appropriate) names for the rigs that will plow County roads this winter in the event of at least two inches of snowfall.
The community is invited to suggest memorable names for the snowplows displayed online on the County’s Snow and Ice Map once it’s activated. The snow map goes live when Arlington receives two or more inches of snow.
Inspiration for names can come from the winter season, song/book/film/television titles, art, sports or any witty take on life in Arlington. Some modest examples:
- Sleetwood Mac
- The Plowminator
- Snowy-Wan Kenobi
- Another One Brines the Dust
- David Plowie
- #FlakeNews
Use this form to submit up to five name suggestions for Arlington’s snowplow trucks. Please keep your names fun and respectful! Avoid any suggestions that could be considered offensive, political or inappropriate.
The “Name that Plow!” contest runs through Mon., Oct. 21, 2024. Please note that only a limited number of names will be selected for the snowplows after internal review by DES staff.
