UPDATED: Police Investigate Shooting on N. Courthouse Road

UPDATED (06/21/24) – The Arlington County Police Department’s Homicide/Robbery Unit is announcing an arrest in the shooting that occurred on May 19, 2024, in the 1200 block of N. Courthouse Road. A-Jay Jones, 18, of Alexandria, VA was taken into custody with the assistance of the Alexandria Police Department on June 19 and charged with Aggravated Malicious Wounding and Use of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. He is being held without bond in the Arlington County Detention Facility.

The investigation into the additional suspects involved in the shooting is ongoing. ARLINGTON, Va. (Originally published on 05/19/24)– The Arlington County Police Department’s Homicide/Robbery Unit is investigating a shooting that took place on N. Courthouse Road in the early morning hours of May 19.

At approximately 2:50 a.m., police responded to multiple reports of shots heard in the area. The preliminary investigation indicates two groups became engaged in a verbal dispute in the parking lot of a hotel in the 1200 block of N. Courthouse Road. During the dispute, the suspect brandished and discharged a firearm, striking the victim and two parked vehicles. The adult male victim self-transported to an area hospital and remains in critical condition.

The suspect is described as a Black male wearing dark pants and a gray hoodie. He fled the scene prior to police arrival.
