Crystal City Metro Station East Entrance Groundbreaking Event
The community is invited to join Arlington County at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new east entrance to the Crystal City Metro Station. The ceremony will take place at the parking lot between 241 18th Street South and 1770 Crystal City Drive, and will feature remarks from members of the Arlington County board and representatives from Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT), and the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA).
About the Project
The new entrance will feature fare vending machines, faregates, and display screens above a new mezzanine, along with new stairs and a second set of elevators to the platforms. Adding this second entrance will give Metro customers more space to wait on platforms, improve accessibility and safety, and make it easier and faster to transfer between Metro, commuter rail, and local buses. Construction will begin in summer of 2024 and last nearly three years.
