Chief of Staff

Lynne Porfiri is the Chief of Staff for the County Manager’s office. An attorney, she has been with Arlington County Government since 2008, starting in the Real Estate Bureau of the Department of Environmental Services where she worked on the acquisition and disposition of a variety of County real estate interests. Most notably she was part of the team that acquired the building which houses the County’s new homeless services center. Lynne also served as Acting Assistant Director in the Department of Environmental Services.

Before joining County government, Lynne managed a title insurance agency in Arlington. Earlier in her career, she was a partner in two law firms in Richmond, VA, and specialized in transactional work at both. In 1990, Governor L. Douglas Wilder appointed Lynne to his policy staff,  where her areas of responsibility included public safety and administration. After leaving the Wilder administration, she was appointed to the Governor’s Commission to Study the Commonwealth’s Sentencing and Parole  Policies and the Need to Establish “Truth-in-Sentencing,” and the Commonwealth of Virginia Child Day-Care Council (Regulatory Board).

Lynne holds a B.A. from the University of Virginia and a J.D. from the University of Richmond. She  also studied at the Sorbonne in Paris, France and Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge, England.

Lynne is a graduate of the Virginia Executive Institute and a member of the 2016 Leadership Arlington class.  She lives in the south Arlington neighborhood of Arlington Ridge.
