Arlington County Awarded $10,000 Grant for "50 Years of Love" Tour

The Arlington Convention and Visitors Service (ACVS) received a $10,000 grant from the Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) "50 Years of Love" grant fund. "50 Years of Love" is part of VTC's efforts to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Virginia is for Lover's tourism slogan.

Historic Preservation Program and Review Board Recognized for Clarendon War Memorial Project

Arlington’s Historic Preservation Program staff and Historical Affairs and Landmark Review Board (HALRB) was honored with a Commission Excellence Award in the category of Best Practices: Public Outreach/Advocacy from the National Alliance of Preservation Commissions (NAPC), Aug. 7, 2020. The award recognizes the work of County staff and the HALRB on the Clarendon War Memorial Interpretive Project.

2016 Open Government Award Winner
The Virginia Coalition for Open Government named Arlington County Government a winner for the creation of an online repository of records supplied in response to requests under Virginia’s Freedom of Information Act which launched in June 2016.

Platinum Recognition
Arlington Economic Development’s Brent Horsley is winner of a Gold and a Platinum AVA Digital Award for his work on SXSW panel videos “Be the Next Tony Stark” and “BFD (Big Fat Data) Revolution.” (2016)

Communicator Gold Award to Arlington
Arlington Economic Development ‘s (AED) “Intersections” campaign received a Gold Award, the highest honor from the International Academy of Visual Arts, which recognizes outstanding achievements in marketing and communications. The program annually receives over 6,000 entries in 10 disciplines, including design and print, integrated campaigns, web marketing, and more. The Communicator Award statuette is designed and made by R.S. Owens, the same organization that produces the Oscar and Emmy Awards. (2014) 

American Graphic Design Award for Arlington Initiative to Rethink Energy (AIRE) Booklet
Graphic Design USA awarded the AIRE booklet a Certificate of Excellence in the brochure + collateral category.  The American Graphic Design Awards competition began in 1963 and honors outstanding work of all kinds.  There were 8,000 entries and only 15 percent of those received an award. (2014)

Government TV/Video Excellence
NATOA awarded Arlington TV second place in the nation for Excellence in Government Programming and third place for the arlingtonva.tv website. NATOA (National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors) is the premier local government professional association supporting communications interests and needs of local governments.

Top Award for Car-Free Diet Campaign
Arlington’s Car-Free Diet Skeptics campaign won First Place in the American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) 2011 AdWheel, in the marketing/promotional campaign category.
