ARLINGTON COUNTY COMMUNITY SERVICES BOARD DAY
WHEREAS, the Arlington Community Services Board was established by the Arlington County Board in 1968 pursuant to legislation by the Virginia General Assembly; and
WHEREAS, the Arlington Community Services Board acts as the agent of Arlington County to set policy for and assure the administration of the provision of mental health, developmental disability and substance use services by the County; and
WHEREAS, the Arlington Community Services Board provides services and programs to clients across the age spectrum through the services of employees of the Arlington County Department of Human Services; and
WHEREAS, the Arlington Community Services Board, annually provides input to the DHS Director on items of concern prior to the submission of the budget to the County Manager, and to the County Board about the proposed annual budget; and
WHEREAS, through its work, Arlington Community Services Board supports the community’s values of diversity and inclusion; and
WHEREAS, these more than 50 years have been marked by exemplary service, compassion and caring for those at risk for or living with a mental illness, substance use disorder, and/or developmental disability;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Christian Dorsey, Chair of the County Board of Arlington, Virginia, do hereby proclaim June 19, 2019, as
ARLINGTON COUNTY COMMUNITY SERVICES BOARD DAY
in Arlington, and call upon our residents to honor, acknowledge, and appreciate the clients, employees, contractors, board members and other volunteers, and the programs within the work of the Arlington Community Services Board.
