Disability Employment Awareness Month

WHEREAS, there are more than six million people with disabilities working in communities within the United States; and 

WHEREAS, individuals with disabilities possess many skills and talents that contribute to the success of our country’s workforce; and 

WHEREAS, the month of October is recognized as National Disability Employment Awareness Month; and 

WHEREAS, Arlington County strives to recruit and hire individuals with disabilities and to provide reasonable accommodations to current employees with disabilities; and

WHEREAS, Arlington County joins the United States Department of Labor to celebrate the contributions of American workers with disabilities and also to raise awareness of the issues faced by workers and job seekers with disabilities;

NOW THEREFORE, I, Jay Fisette, Chair of the County Board of Arlington, Virginia, do proclaim October 2017 as

DISABILITY EMPLOYMENT AWARENESS MONTH

in Arlington, and encourage our residents to recognize the talents and abilities that individuals with disabilities bring to our workplaces.
