Financial Assistance & Housing

A number of programs are available to County residents. Eligibility varies by program.

Arlington Money Management Program: This program assists Arlington residents age 60 and older with managing basic financial tasks, such as  writing checks, balancing checkbooks, day-to-day money management, sorting and paying bills, and monitoring income and expenses.

Housing Grants: The Housing Grants program is a county funded program that provides a monthly housing grant to eligible households, including Arlington County renters who are: 65years or older; totally and permanently disabled; clients and patients of a County operated or County supported mental health program; or working families with at least one child under age 18.

Real Estate Tax Relief:The Tax Relief program provides an exemption and/or deferral of real estate taxes for qualified Arlington homeowners age 65 and older and certain totally and permanently disabled homeowners.

Medicaid, TANF, SNAP and energy assistance: These programs are available by contacting the County’s Economic Independence Division (EID) or by using the CommonHelp to apply for benefits online.

Virginia Lifespan Respite Voucher Program: The Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services operates the Lifespan Respite Voucher Program that provides reimbursement of up to $400 per family caring for individuals in need of respite services.
