Refugee Cash / Medical Assistance


General Information

  • Provides a monthly grant (check) and medical assistance to refugees in need for up to eight months after arrival into the U.S.
  • Medicaid benefits are automatically provided to persons included in the grant

Eligibility

  • Refugee in the U.S. for eight months or less
  • Must establish Virginia residency
  • Refugees with minor children must qualify for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
  • Face to face interview is required
  • Chest x-ray required from Public Health Division
