Each year, Arlington comes together to honor the life and legacy of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through a heartfelt tribute that celebrates his enduring impact. The 2025 MLK Tribute, themed "Dreams, Faith, and Justice in Action," continues this meaningful tradition with an inspiring program.
This year's event will feature powerful dance performances, moving musical renditions, and captivating oration all showcasing the vibrant talent within our community. In addition, the program will spotlight local organizations that embody Dr. King's principles of equality, justice, and service, demonstrating how his vision is brought to life every day in Arlington. Challenging Racism
Challenging Racism is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating people about institutional and systemic racism and providing tools to combat it in various settings. Their workshops and trainings focus on building racial literacy, understanding the historical context of racism, and fostering interpersonal racial awareness. They aim to shift the perception of racism from individual acts to a systemic issue, emphasizing the role of white advantage and the importance of working towards equity. Center for Youth & Family Advocacy
The Center for Youth & Family Advocacy (CYFA) aims to transform systems through collective impact, restorative practices, education, and advocacy. Their BuildStrong Initiative includes several programs: IMPACT, which creates sustainable coalitions to address youth opportunity and community safety; PEER, a youth-led restorative practice program to divert young people from the legal system; and YPC, a restorative peer court. CYFA also offers Legal Advocacy Workshops (LAW) for legal education, Guiding Personal Success (GPS) for youth development, and Relax Relate Restore (RRR) for community conversations. Offender Aid and Restoration
OAR is a nonprofit organization focused on ensuring equal civil and human rights for those impacted by the legal system. They work to dismantle racism in the legal system and support individuals returning from incarceration through alternative sentencing and diversion programs. Founded in 1968, OAR has a history of advocating for a restorative justice system and addressing systemic racism. Their services include community service programs, reentry support, and racial justice initiatives.
