A Day On, Not a Day Off
"Everybody can be great, because anybody can serve. You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love."
- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
MLK Day is a day of service. Consider how you can choose to serve, during the event, through MLK weekend, and beyond.
Drop Off Food Donations at the MLK Tribute
Consider bringing nonperishable food donations to the event to support the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) and community members in need. AFAC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing dignified access to nutritious groceries for families in need. By allowing families to select their own groceries, AFAC reduces food waste and ensures that recipients get items they will use and enjoy. Each week, AFAC distributes over 4 million pounds of food, including fresh produce, proteins, and staples, to various communities and through home delivery programs. AFAC purchases 60% of its food at wholesale prices and receives the remaining 40% through donations. In FY 2024, AFAC served 183,558 families, continuing its mission to support those facing food insecurity.
