History Hikes: The Clay-Randolph Duel
Families. On April 8, 1826, Secretary of State Henry Clay and Senator John Randolph crossed the Potomac River into Virginia. Years of bitter political fighting had finally driven the two men to fight a duel, which took place near Pimmit Run. To mark the 196th anniversary of the duel, we will walk the approximate path of the duel and learn how it came to be. Registration Required.
