2025-26 Tryout Information

Aerials Tryouts:
Interested in competitive gymnastics? We are holding tryouts for our Arlington Aerials Dynamites (pre-competitive level), Level 3, and Xcel Silver levels. Available spaces for each level are dependent on our current athletes' advancements and will be communicated at a later date. Placement of athletes will be determined by their performance during the tryouts.

For any prospective athletes with 3 or more years of competitive gymnastics experience at any level, please reach out to our Gymnastics Teams Manager, Alexander Asante-Dean at aasante-dean@arlingtonva.us OR 703-228-3618.

In order to attend the tryout, parents must virtually attend one of two required Parent Information Meetings on either Thurs., Feb. 27, 2025, at 6pm or Tues., March 4, 2025, at 7pm. Please use this link to complete our Tryout Form. Within the form you will be able to select the Mandatory Virtual Parent Meeting that best suits your family's schedule. Athletes are not required to attend as these meetings are informational for prospective new competitive gymnastics parents.

Things to Consider when trying out for Competitive Gymnastics:

  • A few larger considerations in level placement are -
  • Teachability - how well does your athlete receive instruction and corrections for concepts and skills
  • Commitment - patience (trusting the process) and dedication are important to the longevity and success of athletes in competitive gymnastics given a year-round training schedule
  • Other important criteria include -
  • Sportsmanship
  • Perseverance
  • Strength
  • Flexibility
  • Attendance
  • Mental Toughness -
  • Does your athlete respond well to positive criticism? Competitive gymnastics focuses on major and minor details in the performance of skills and routines. Athlete's ability to respond positively to corrections is critical to their success.
  • Competitive Gymnastics is a year-round sport -
  • Athletes train 12-months out of the year, with roughly 4 of those months being the competitive season (unless in a pre-competitive level). Strong attendance has a direct correlation to athletes' safe training and competitive success.
  • Competitive Gymnastics is an incredibly rewarding sport that aids each athlete in personal, emotional, and physical growth as well as overcoming challenges, comradery, and competitive spirit. We strive to provide an environment where athletes can grow to be well-rounded individuals who also succeed in an rigorous competitive environment.

Tryouts will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 1:30pm at Barcroft Sports and Fitness Center (4200 South Four Mile Run Dr). We look forward to seeing you at one of the Parent Information Meetings and at the tryouts!
