National Night Out

National Night Out (NNO) is a community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer and improve quality of life. During the event, residents in neighborhoods throughout Arlington County and across the nation are asked to turn on their porch lights, lock their doors and spend the evening outside with their neighbors, police officers, firefighters and other County personnel. Events such as cookouts, block parties and ice cream socials will occur simultaneously throughout Arlington County and nationwide.

Registration

Registration for NNO 2025 will be announced in our Newsroom at a future date.

All National Night Out events are hosted by neighborhood organizations, community groups and/or businesses. Registering your event is free and gives police, Arlington County leaders and other representatives an opportunity to attend as time and circumstances permit. Police cannot guarantee attendance at events registered after the deadline. You should complete the registration form in addition to registering with the National Association of Town Watch (NATW). Please note: the police department is not notified when you register with NATW.

National Night Out is an Annual Event

NNO occurs on the first Tuesday in August. Arlington County neighborhoods are encouraged to join communities nationwide in celebrating NNO each summer. Thank you to the neighborhoods who have hosted events in past years and to all who participated to help strengthen our police-community partnerships. View photos from NNO 2024
