The Arlington County Police Department’s Youth Outreach Unit conducts a Summer Safety Patrol Camp to prepare students for safety patrols during the upcoming academic year. This five-day camp is sponsored by AAA and offered to incoming 5th grade students. Arlington County Police Officers educate camp participants on the various responsibilities of being an effective safety patrol member. During the academic year, safety patrol members help keep other students safe on their way to and from school. As school-age leaders in transportation safety, they remind other students of the safety rules learned during this camp and help guide them in safe crossing and bus passenger procedures. Safety patrol members serve as models to younger students.

Safety Patrol Camp Session Information

Camp sessions will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Participants may attend only one session of the safety patrol camp. All camps are held from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. daily. Participants are responsible for bringing their own lunch during the camp sessions. Transportation will be the responsibility of the parents or guardians. Campers are expected to participate in all camp activities, including some strenuous physical exercise and sporting events.

Camp Fee

The cost of each session is $50.00 per student. Arlington County does not want fees or language to be a barrier for residents to participate in camps. To request a reduction in fees, contact the school-based patrol sponsor directly or the school administrator where your child is enrolled as a student.
