Community Readiness Unit (CRU)

Community Readiness Unit (CRU) was originally established in June 2018 to empower ACDF inmates with tools and resources they need to thrive when they return to society. The unit offers programming, therapy, and post release resources to ensure inmates are prepared for reentry and ready to succeed. The CRU's key functions and services include topics that cover:

  • Healthy Relationships
  • Entrepreneurships
  • Ethics
  • Social Justice
  • Wellness
  • Substance Use Regulation
  • Job training
  • Therapy
  • Language Courses

Pre-Release Services:

  • Risk Assessments: To identify the specific needs and risks associated with individual.
  • One-on-one Reentry Coaching and Planning: Personalized guidance and preparation for life after release.
  • Weekly Workshops: Covering co-parenting, employment retention, conflict resolution, etc.
  • Cognitive-behavioral therapies and Psychotherapy: Addressing mental health and behavioral issues.

Post-Release Services:

  • Intensive Case Management: Ongoing Support and Follow-up to ensure successful reentry.
  • Psychotherapy and Facilitated Support Groups: Continued mental health support. 
  • Family Support and Reunification: Helping individuals reconnect and build relationships with their families.
  • Referrals for educational and vocational training: Connecting participants with opportunities to further their education and job skills.
