Permit Administration

Most construction projects require building and trade permits, which ISD regulates. Building permits are either Residential or Commercial, depending on the nature of the project. Trade permits include electrical, mechanical, and plumbing and gas permits. Permit Administration is responsible for the intake, routing and issuance of these permits. If you have questions about the building or trade permitting processes, they are here to assist you.

Plan Review

ISD checks permit applications, building plans and construction documents for compliance with the Building Code. ISD also offers complimentary Code Consultations for building permit applicants who are unfamiliar with the County process and statewide requirements.

Building and Trade Inspections

The Building and Trade Inspections team ensures that structures conform to issued permits, approved construction documents and the Building Code. Inspections are required at certain milestones during the construction process and are typically scheduled 24 hours in advance.

Code Enforcement

Code Enforcement uniformly and equitably enforces property maintenance standards for safety and health. Code Enforcement inspectors investigate proactively and respond to complaints of Code violations. Code Enforcement also enforces the Noise Control Ordinance.
