Celebrate Recovery: Highlights of 2019 Event at Busboys & Poets

What is Recovery?

Recovery from mental health and substance use disorders is a process of change through which individuals improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and strive to reach their full potential. –SAMHSA March 2012

We believe in recovery for all people with mental health and substance use disorders, while recognizing that recovery is a non-linear process and different for each person.

The recovery principle we follow is to offer a continuum of services that people want and incorporate the attitude that recovery is possible for each individual. We promote hope, healing, empowerment, connection and personal responsibility for each person.

  • All services are geared to empower people to recover in their own way, in their own timeline, to live the life they want while integrated into the community.
  • We encourage the involvement of peers at every level. A peer is defined as a person with a mental illness or substance use disorder who serves in a professional or support capacity with others to aid them in their recovery process. Peers are encouraged to become involved in service delivery, decision making and advisory capacities. We utilize peers throughout its services in staff positions.
