Urban Forestry Plant them, support them, and care for them. A certified Tree City USA since 2005, trees are an important component of Arlington’s sustainability.
Native Plants Arlington’s native plant community is surprisingly rich. Twenty-one percent of the plant species in Virginia are found within the boundaries of Arlington – its smallest county!
Habitats and Habitat Restoration All living things need a home – a habitat. From mature Oak-Hickory forests, to low-lying seeps and springs, many habitats are found in Arlington. We are working to protect the best and to restore degraded ones.
Wildlife Some wildlife thrives alongside us and is often seen. Other species, like Spring Peepers, depend on specific habitats and are found in only a few parks. And our most diverse wildlife group is also our most overlooked.
Invasive Plants A species is invasive if it is not native to a particular ecosystem and if its introduction does or is likely to cause economic or environmental harm.
Forestry and Natural Resources Plan Welcome to the Forestry and Natural Resources Plan page. Here you’ll be able to learn about project goals, explore updated materials, and engage with the County throughout the project.
The Spotted Lanternfly has Landed in our Region Virginia Cooperative Extension has been monitoring the arrival of this invasive in our region and there are many resources available for reporting sightings and management of this beautiful but terrible pest.
