Planting a Tree on Public Property

Do you know a barren spot around town that could use a tree? A park, library or recreation center? A street island or right of way? If so, let us know. A minimum planting width strip of four feet between the curb and sidewalk is required for planting trees along streets.

Key dates for requests:

  • Fall Planting: all Fall planting orders will be ordered by July 1. Orders received after that will be considered for Spring of the next year. Fall trees will typically be planted between Sept 30 - Jan 1.
  • Spring planting: all Spring planting orders will be ordered by October 1. Orders received after that will be considered for Fall of next year. Trees will typically be planted between March 1 - May 30.

Because young trees do not survive well if they are planted when it is too hot and dry, we do not plant them in the Summer. Winter is often used to extend the Fall planting season, as we do not experience ground frosts.
