County Wandering: Rosslyn Public Art Walking Tour

Project Details

Artist: Graham Coreil-Allen
Location: Rosslyn
Date: 2017

As part of the County Wandering walking tour series, Arlington Public Art Artist in Residence Graham Coreil-Allen created a special Rosslyn Public Art Walking Tour as an artist-led community engagement activity for the Public Art Master Plan update. The tour explored the history, design, and purpose of Rosslyn’s celebrated public art collection and took advantage of Rosslyn’s pedestrian-friendly character to explore a robust network of spectacular and hidden public spaces. Along the way Coreil-Allen created opportunities for playful interaction with public artworks. Highlights included Liquid PixelsCupid’s GardenAnna and David, Bennett Park Art Atrium, and Dark Star Park. The second tour took place on August 1st, locally known as “Dark Star Park Day”, and culminated in a dramatic finale in which participants witnessed the annual shadow alignment of Nancy Holt’s iconic work. The tours served as opportunities to invite the public to learn more about and contribute to the Public Art Master Plan Update.

Graham also conducted County Wandering walking tours in Courthouse, Columbia Pike, and Langston Boulevard.
