Forestry and Natural Resources Plan

The Forestry and Natural Resources Plan (FNRP) provides a comprehensive policy framework designed to support a healthy natural environment for future generations. It includes more than operational guidance for County staff and goals for environmental protection in public parks. It also presents recommendations for conservation and restoration on private property, a focus on environmental justice and commitment to equitable access to nature, as well as a collaborative approach to community conservation emphasizing education and volunteerism.

Past Plans

The Forestry and Natural Resources Plan updates and replaces the 2004 Urban Forest Master Plan and the 2010 Natural Resources Management plan. Both past plans are included below for reference.

Implementation

Implementation of the recommendations is subject to the County’s future funding and resource allocations and priorities.

The Natural Resources Joint Advisory Group (NRJAG), a committee made up of members from the Park and Recreation, Forestry and Natural Resources, and Climate Change, Energy and Environment commissions, supports implementation of the FNRP. NRJAG was originally convened to oversee the implementation of the 2010 Natural Resources Management Plan and enables these Board-appointed advisory commissions to coordinate and provide effective advice on intersecting environmental issues.
