BikeArlington
The bicycle element of the Master Transportation Plan calls for enhancing mobility for pedestrians and bikers in Arlington by providing a safe, convenient, aesthetically pleasing and environmentally responsible transportation system.
The BikeArlington Program funds five types of projects to carry out this mission: new construction of multi-use trails, trail renovations and safety improvements, expansion of bike lanes and on-street facilities, installation of bike parking, and bike wayfinding. Projects also range in scale from small intersection adjustments and spot fixes to half-mile segments of new trails. The program coordinates with the Neighborhood Conservation Program, the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Transportation Engineering and Operations Bureau within the Department of Environmental Services to achieve multiple long-term infrastructure and operational goals.
