About the Project

The 12th Street South Complete Street Project created the street cross-section on 12th Street called for in the Crystal City Sector Plan. The design includes the standard Sector Plan streetscape with landscaping, sidewalks, pedestrian ramps and streetlights. Pedestrian improvements include new north/south crosswalks at Army Navy Drive.

The completed project helps expand the Crystal City Potomac Yard Transitway to Pentagon City by creating center-running transit-only lanes on this section of 12th Street.

This project incorporates a two-way bicycle track connection beneath the Route 1 overpass, linking the Army Navy Drive Complete Street project with the 15th St. South/South Clark-Bell Street Realignment project and bike lanes along Long Bridge Drive.

Public Process

Throughout the lifetime of the project, the Arlington County engaged with the public for input.
