NOTICE: Emergency water service disruption at Columbia Pike & S Wayne Street on Thursday, December 5
A water main break occurred on Tuesday, December 3 near the Columbia Pike & S. Wayne Street intersection. Affected buildings include:
- 2112, 2200, 2300, and 2310 Columbia Pike
- 1016 S Wayne Street
- 1200 S Courthouse Road
The damaged pipe was isolated on the morning of Wednesday, December 4, but additional repairs are needed. Crews will abandon this existing water main and tie in service lines to a new, recently installed water main. To allow crews to perform this emergency work as soon as possible, water service to the affected buildings will be temporarily shut off on Thursday, December 5, from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. (The original anticipated completion time was 6:00 PM.)
Please do not attempt to use water during the time frame of the water shutoff. Once water service is restored, there may be air pockets that cause stuttering on the pipes when first using faucets. If there is discoloration, run cold water for about 5 minutes until it is clear to prevent potential discolored water from entering hot water tanks. Please contact Sheila Borkar, Project Manager (sborkar@arlingtonva.us, 703-228-3689) with questions about the construction or scheduled work. If customers have questions about their water quality, they may also call the Water and Sewer Control Center at 703-228-6555 (24/7).
